Garrett Nussmeyer is finally poised to become the starting quarterback for Louisiana State University football, and the redshirt junior has the backing of one of the greatest quarterbacks in football history.
Peyton Manning spoke Friday at his family's Manning Pass Academy in Thibodaux and spoke highly of Nussmeyer.
“We keep in contact. He was at our camp last year. He's really good with the kids,” Manning said. “I really enjoyed watching him play in the bowl game last year and I'm really looking forward to watching him play this year.”
Nussmeyer made his first collegiate start in the Tigers' Leliaquest Bowl win over Wisconsin in January, where he threw for 395 yards and three touchdowns and was named Offensive MVP. He is projected to be LSU's starter in 2024 following the departure of last year's Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels to the NFL.
