Penn State will be in for a tough fight in 2024-25 as it looks to win its third straight AHA Tournament title.
The Nittany Lions will open the season on September 26th at home against Northeastern University for a two-game non-conference series.
Last season, the blue and white team traveled to Boston to play two games against the Huskies, losing the first game 1-0 before tying the second game 2-1.
Penn State will then play two consecutive games on the road against Connecticut and Union College from Oct. 4-12 before hosting Dartmouth College on Oct. 18-19.
Unlike last season, the Nittany Lions will participate in three tournaments during the season. The first tournament will be the Icebreaker Tournament in Columbus. Ohio State, led by former Penn State captain Chiara Zanon, will host the blue and white on Oct. 25th and 26th, along with Cornell University and Stonehill College.
Penn State will begin AHA Conference play with three consecutive home conference series against Syracuse University, Lindenwood University and Robert Morris University from Oct. 31-Nov. 23.
The second of three tournaments during the season will take place just after Thanksgiving, when the Nittany Lions will join Merrimack, Clarkson and St. Thomas in the Smashville Women's College Hockey Showcase Nov. 29-30 at Ford Ice Center Bellevue, the Nashville Predators' practice facility.
The final series of 2024 and the only two games in December will be in Erie, Pennsylvania, where the blue and white will face Mercyhurst, their conference tournament opponent the past two seasons.
Zanon won't be the only former Nittany Lion competing against Penn State, as longtime goalkeeper Josie Bothan will also face her former team for the first time on Jan. 3. The blue and white will face Bemidji State in Minneapolis, followed by Minnesota on Jan. 4, both as part of the East-West Showcase.
Penn State is scheduled to finish the 2024-25 regular season with 12 straight games against the six other AHA member teams, with series against RIT at the beginning and end of that period.
The AHA Tournament will begin with the quarterfinals on February 22nd, followed by the best-of-three semifinals from February 28th to March 2nd, and the AHA Finals on March 8th.
