In the shadow of the Pentagon's military headquarters, and two days before the football game near Landover, Md., Army will play Penn State at Capital One Arena, home of the NHL's Washington Capitals, on Thursday, Dec. 12. The event is the inaugural Capital Hockey Classic.
“We're excited to have the opportunity to play Penn State in the Capital Hockey Classic,” Army coach Brian Riley said, “I know there are a lot of alumni and Army fans in the area, so it'll be a great opportunity to take the Army hockey team to an area we've never played in before.”
“We are honored to host this college hockey showcase prior to the iconic Army vs. Navy football game, providing fans with the opportunity to witness this legendary rivalry on the ice and then watch two of Division I's top teams go head to head,” said Jim Van Stone, president of business operations and chief commercial officer for Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “The military is an integral part of the Washington, D.C., area community, and Monumental Sports & Entertainment has a long history of leveraging the power of sports to make a lasting difference in the lives of those who serve our country.”
