NEW DELHI: The Hockey Board of India has announced the 16-player Indian men's hockey team, which will aim to win the prestigious gold medal at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.
Skilled drag flicker and defender Harmanpreet Singh will lead the team as captain and energetic midfielder Hardik Singh will support him as vice-captain. The team has five players making their Olympic debut.
Harmanpreet, who is set to compete in her third Olympics, made her Olympic debut as the youngest member of the team at the 2016 Rio Olympics and later played a key role in helping the team win the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The team also features veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh and midfielder Manpreet Singh, both of whom will be playing in their fourth Olympic Games.
Paris Olympics India's Group:
India have been drawn in Pool B, which also includes reigning champions Belgium, Australia, Argentina, New Zealand and Ireland, and will need to secure a top four finish in their pool to progress to the next round.

The team will begin their campaign against New Zealand on July 27 before going on to face Argentina (July 29), Ireland (July 30), Belgium (August 1) and Australia (August 2).
