The boxing competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics will have 13 different weight classes (seven for men and six for women) in which athletes can win medals, and will feature 249 athletes from around the world, including eight from the United States. (While 249 may seem like a large number of athletes, this year's boxing competition overall is the smallest in decades, although it will be the first time that there is an equal split between men and women.)
In the ongoing tournament, men and women are competing for medals in five weight classes: flyweight, featherweight, lightweight, welterweight and middleweight. Women also compete at bantamweight, and men compete at heavyweight and super heavyweight. Boxers have been competing in preliminary rounds all week, with the first medal event taking place on August 3.

Many of this year's matches will take place at Roland Garros Stadium, famously home to the French Open tennis tournament, and at the North Paris Arena in Villepinte.
