UFC fans, don't worry. Paddy Pimblett He plans to stay with the UFC in his own way, and he says he plans to stay with the company even after his current contract is up. TMZ Sports UFC is where he wants to be!!!
We caught up with star MMA fighter Paddy “The Buddy” as he prepares for his next bout. Bobby King Green UFC 304 in Manchester, England, may be Pimbret's final fight. Dana Whitepromotion…because it's the end of his contract.
Paddy was asked about his future in recent interviews which some have interpreted as an indication he wants to move on to another team.
But Pimblett says that's just nonsense.
“I want to make it to the UFC, which is the pinnacle of the sport,” he said.
“No other MMA promotion comes close to this. I said something in an interview the other day and they took it out of context and posted it as if I wanted to leave UFC. It's crazy how people don't actually listen to the interview and then jump on one little thing that was posted.”
Paddy's answer seems to leave no doubt… he's happy where he is.
Ahead of his bout with Green, Pimblett said he wasn't intimidated by the badmouthing of the veteran, who is ranked No. 15 in the UFC rankings, even going so far as to call the lightweight “arrogant.”
“That's just who he is,” Paddy said. “That's his personality. He just says things. I leave it to him.”
Paddy said he is looking forward to “punching some people in the face”, but is also excited to be fighting in his home country of England.
“It's good to be home,” he said. “It's good to be back home. The shows I've done so far have been in London, which is about a four-hour drive. Manchester is about 30 minutes.”
UFC 304 takes place on July 27th… and if things go as Paddy hopes, it won't be his final UFC return fight!
