EUGENE – The Oregon Ducks football team will welcome the Ohio State Buckeyes to Autzen Stadium on October 12, 2024. This early season matchup pits two of the Big Ten Conference's top prospects going head-to-head.
The highly anticipated matchup had major implications for the College Football Playoff, as both Oregon State and Ohio State packed into Eugene's Autzen Stadium.
The game is already sold out.
Ohio State ticket prices are the second most expensive college football tickets on the secondary market in 2024, according to Oregon's director of tickets.
The current lowest price is $425 for the top level. Ticket prices are up to $1,179, and prices are expected to increase as October 12 approaches.
“We have 15 Ohio ZIP codes in our season ticket database,” Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens told John Canzano. Our ticket staff has had to work extremely hard to eliminate brokers from purchasing season tickets. ”
The most expensive ticket for next season will be at Alabama against the Georgia Bulldogs, with tickets priced at more than $1,300.
For Oregon State coach Dan Lanning, the Big Ten showdown is a chance for the Ducks to establish themselves as a force in their new conference, while Ohio State hopes to maintain its conference dominance.
Both teams have had success recruiting this offseason, with Oregon ranked third in 247Sport's 2024 team rankings and Ohio State a close second in fifth.
Oregon State landed a top-ranked transfer class this offseason and currently ranks No. 2 in the nation according to 247Sports. This class includes several experienced players, including proven quarterback Dillon Gabriel, wide receiver Evan Stewart, and lockdown defensive backs Jabbar Muhammad and Peyton Woodyard.
The budding cross-border rivalry and Oregon State's talented roster aren't the only factors making Duck fans invested in the game. This confrontation brings back a familiar face to Eugene. Former Oregon head coach Chip Kelly will return to Autzen Stadium as the Buckeyes' offensive coordinator.
When Kelly was at Oregon (2007-2012), he led the Ducks to BCS bowl games in all four seasons, including a national championship appearance in 2011. Kelly also coached the Ducks to three consecutive Pac-12 Conference Championships.
The winner of this game will have a huge impact on the college football world. A win would cement both programs as the favorites to win the national championship. With so much at stake, it's no wonder tickets to this event are so expensive.
