It was divine timing for the 2024 Olympics to be held in the City of Love.
Paris 2024 Mayor Laurent Michaud said organizers of this summer's Paris Games are encouraging friendly exchanges and exchanges between athletes from each country, and are giving away 300,000 gifts to athletes staying in the Olympic Village. He reportedly provided condoms.
The move comes after the 2021 Tokyo Summer Games, which implemented strict social distancing policies due to the coronavirus pandemic, including a ban on intimate relationships enacted by the International Olympic Committee.
“We aim to have 300,000 condoms at our disposal for athletes here in the village,” Michaud told Sky News. “This is the amount to make sure everyone gets what they expect and need.
“We want to create a place where athletes feel very engaged and comfortable, where they can have conversations and discussions and share their core values about the sport.”
The Olympic Village will reportedly host 9,000 athletes participating in the Paris Games, which run from July 26 to August 11, and that amount of condoms will reportedly be enough for almost two condoms every day during the Olympics. corresponds to
“It's really important that the conviviality is big here,” Michaud said. “Working with the athlete committee, we wanted to create some spaces where our athletes felt very engaged and comfortable.”
Michaud also shared that the committee has established a village club with a lounge, but will not serve alcohol.
“So we created a village club with a lounge with Coca-Cola and a sports bar,” Michaud said. “So of course alcohol is not allowed there. But this will be a great place where they can actually share their moments and environment. Of course there is no champagne in the village, but you can get all the champagne you want even in Paris. You can get it.”
