The race for qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games officially began with the Volleyball World Elite 16 in Doha, Qatar in February 2023. The 2024 season will begin in Doha in the first week of March, with the final event of the Olympic qualification cycle being the Ostrava Elite 16, which will conclude on June 9. After the international points-earning tournaments, we bring you the latest updates on the Beach Volleyball Olympic Rankings.
Seventeen months and countless air miles later, it all came down to this: one event in an abandoned steel mill in the Czech Republic, with seven men's and seven women's teams still competing for a spot in the Paris Olympics.
All of these races could be decided in Wednesday's Ostrava Elite 16 qualifiers.
If you want to know more about what each team needs to do to qualify for Paris, you can find out here.
The live entry list for the Ostrava Elite 16 can be found here. Attention is focused on Sarah Pavan and Molly McBain to compete in this event. If two more teams do not withdraw, the Olympic race will be over. If two more teams withdraw, the race will continue and the final Olympic spot will be a three-way battle between Canada, Lili Fernandez and Paula Soria of Spain, and the Klinger sisters, Dorinya and Ronja of Austria.
Below are the penultimate Olympic Beach Volleyball rankings after last weekend's Stare Jablonki Challenge in Poland. Fernández and Soria clinched their first medal as a team to clinch a spot in the qualification round, while Stefan Bomans and Jorick de Groot of the Netherlands also secured a spot in Paris with a bronze medal.
