COLUMBUS, Ohio — By mid-week, Ohio State had already sold more than 50,000 tickets for the spring game, which was still three days from kickoff. The weather forecast for Saturday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio, calls for sunny skies with temperatures in the mid-60s, and head coach Ryan Day and his staff are anticipating an impressive attendance.
After an offseason that included retaining a number of key players on defense, hiring UCLA head coach Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator, and committing to some of the highest-rated players in the transfer portal, the Buckeyes are excited. It's swirling. But Saturday also marks the first time that any spring football game, regardless of school, draws a national television audience.
“I think we've planned a great day,” Day said at a news conference earlier this week. “The opportunity to have the first-ever spring game nationally broadcast on FOX is very exciting for the players, for Buckeye Nation and for the program. It's a really great, really great opportunity. So our players… I want to do a show.’ Have fun. ”
We will provide full coverage of the match on Saturday. In the meantime, scroll down for a breakdown of what to watch out for.
