MINNEAPOLIS – Despite the obvious effects of a right elbow injury he suffered early in Thursday night's game, Denver Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray expects to recover in time for Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday. He said he is doing so.
Murray hurt his elbow when he hit a Rudy Gobert screen and finished with 10 points on 4-of-18 shooting in a 115-70 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center.
He had two days off before Game 7, but Murray said he doesn't know if his elbow will be better by then.
“I hope for our team,” Murray said. “I hope it goes well.”
Murray missed nine of his first 10 shots. As the match progressed his elbow loosened and he was asked if he felt better.
“Obviously that wasn't the case,” Murray said with a laugh. “I put a numbing cream on it so I wouldn’t have to feel any pain every time it stretches, but everyone gets hurt.
“So there was the fact that I was shooting the ball, which is what I do the most. So I just couldn't get into my rhythm again. And the team obviously They needed me tonight and I didn't do it. So I'm disappointed. I wonder in myself that I couldn't give them the right piece that I know I could do. Masu. ”
Murray did a great job this postseason. He's already dealing with a strained left calf he suffered in the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Nuggets need Murray to be at his best in Game 7. Denver won three games in the series, with Murray averaging 19.7 points on 50 percent shooting and 42 percent from 3-point range. In the three losses, Murray is averaging 11.7 points and shooting 26% from the field.
“I got two days off,” Murray said. “We have to prepare and be in better shape for Sunday. Yeah.” [it’s got] It should be better on Sunday, dude. ”
