SHELDON, Iowa – Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) is pleased to announce that Ian Pascual, a native of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, has committed to join the Thunder men's soccer team and enroll in the automotive program next school year.
Ian’s decision to choose NCC is rooted in his desire to begin his competitive and professional career in a place that offers both growth and opportunity. “This is a great opportunity for him to stand out early in his career and develop as a player,” Pascual said. He joins NCC with a history of playing defensively as either a full-back or centre-back and brings strength and tenacity to the Thunder's backline.
Ian chose the Automotive program due to his deep interest in cars and his ambition to work in the automotive industry. NCC's program features a hands-on approach to learning about vehicle operation and functionality, an aspect Ian is keen to explore.
One of the most memorable aspects of NCC for Ian is the opportunity to actively contribute to the development of the programs he participates in. This opportunity to impact and grow with the program was a key factor in his decision to join NCC.
The sports scholarship enabled Ian to study abroad in the United States, helping to alleviate the financial challenges of international education. This support is very important to him and his family and will allow him to pursue his academic and athletic goals abroad.
Ian has participated extensively in federation tournaments in his home country, competing in various age categories from U16 to U19. His experience in these competitive environments prepared him well for the challenges of college soccer in the United States.
Ian commented: “The opportunity to join Team Thunder is very exciting and I will make the most of it.” He is excited to begin his journey as a student-athlete and potentially a professional athlete in the future.
NCC men's head soccer coach Jesse Cuellar said, emphasizing his high expectations for Ian's impact on the Thunder team. His tenacity and speed will make him a great addition to our team. His versatility on the pitch will bring new talent to the group. ”
Ian is the son of Adriano Pascual and Gladys Lai of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
