Noah Lyles won the 100 meters in 9.96 seconds at the USATF Bermuda Grand Prix, the first international outdoor race of the Olympic season.
Lyles, the reigning world champion in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m, defeated Canadian 100m champion Aaron Brown by 13-hundredths of a second on Sunday. The tailwind was 3 meters per second, exceeding the recorded wind speed of 2 meters per second.
“Overall, I think it was a pretty well-organized race,” Lyles told Lewis Johnson on NBC Sports. “I felt like I got off to a pretty average start (and then) I started accelerating.”
This was Lyles' second individual outdoor race of the year. On April 13, Lyles ran 10.01 seconds at the University of Florida in a tailwind of 1.7 meters per second.

Lyles' fastest 100-meter time was the beginning of a personal best 100-meter time he recorded earlier this year, on April 15, 2023, when he ran 9.95 seconds with a tailwind of 1.6 meters per second. Ta. He won the world title last August with a best of 9.83.
The world record upwind up to 2024 is 9.93 seconds, set last weekend by 17-year-old American Christian Miller.
The world's top sprinters have either not yet made their debut this season or are still preparing for the trials (June in the US) and the Paris Olympics in August.
The track and field season begins next weekend with the World Relays being held in the Bahamas, where each country will qualify for the Olympic 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
