new york – “Inside Out 2,” the sequel to the Oscar-winning “Inside Out,” was screened for more than 100 female youth hockey players at the Paley Center for Media in New York on Thursday.
The special screening was accompanied by a generous donation of $75,000 from the Congress Hockey Challenge to the NHL Foundation's Women's Hockey Support Grants Program.
“I think just providing access to the sport is a great thing,” Haley Scarpa, the Olympic gold medalist and three-time world champion who is now a U.S. ambassador for the NHL Foundation and head scout for the U.S. Women's National Team, said of the donation before the screening. “Hockey, as we all know, is a hard sport to get into because the equipment and everything is expensive, so having these events and clinics and the opportunity to learn to play and providing free equipment is really important.”
The sequel to the hit movie, like the original, centers around the emotions of youth hockey player Riley. In the original, joining a youth hockey team helped Riley get over his grief after his family moved from Minnesota to San Francisco. In the sequel, now a teenager, Riley is beginning to come into her own on the ice.
The film features the voice of Kendall Coyne Schofield, a member of the gold medal-winning 2018 U.S. Women's National Team and captain of PWHL champion Minnesota.
