The National Football League's (NFL) Pittsburgh Steelers have announced that they will host a free American football youth camp in Belfast in June.
Aspiring American football players between the ages of 9 and 18 are encouraged to attend the event on Saturday, June 15th at Delamore Park and hear from top American football coaches and current Steelers players. Skills can be taught.
Each participant will receive a Pittsburgh Steelers American Football Youth Camp T-shirt and a meal at the end of the event, and a second camp will be held in Cork the following day.
The Steelers are one of the NFL's leading teams, having won the Super Bowl six times, including in 2008, and boasting star players like Justin Fields, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Patrick Queen and TJ Watt.
As part of their newly signed global market license with the NFL, the Steelers have expanded into Ireland and Northern Ireland in recent years, signing Irish players in April along with former Pittsburghers Shaun Suisham and Jordan Berry. The team also hosted a fan and football education event and a sold-out fan watch party in Croke Park in Dublin last November, and has tentative plans to host NFL regular season games in Ireland in the near future. There are also plans.
