This week, new footage was released of a 10-man ice hockey brawl that broke out just seconds into an NHL game.
A 10-man brawl broke out seconds after the New York Rangers won 4-3 against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday.
All 10 players on the ice were involved in a scuffle during the opening confrontation, and eight of them were ejected from the NHL game with just two seconds remaining.
Rangers forward Matt Lempe's main battle with Devils star Curtis McDiarmid lasted longer than most and ended with both players exhausted.
The players had unfinished business from the last time the two sides met on March 11th.
During the match at Madison Square Garden, Rempe rejected McDiarmid's offer to fight and knocked out Devils defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler with a high elbow.
The Rangers star was suspended for four games.
Television footage of the main battle went viral on social media, but now new footage has been released, including a wide-angle shot showing all five battles happening at the same time.
In addition to Rempe, New York defensemen Jacob Trouba and K'Andre Miller and forward Barclay Goodrow were also ejected from the game.
New Jersey lost defensemen Kevin Bahr and John Marino and forwards Chris Tierney and McDiarmid.
The other two players who fought, Rangers forward Jimmy Vesey and Devils forward Curtis Lazar, remained on the ice after fighting first and received no additional penalties.
Many fans have speculated that these five games were planned by both sides, but Devils forward McDiarmid insisted that was not the case.
“I never expected something like this to happen. It was a spur-of-the-moment idea,” McDiarmid said after the game.
In the NHL, games are allowed and the referee has the power to decide what punishment to impose.
