death of john wall's mother took a toll on him…the NBA star had a gun put to his head twice, to the point where he contemplated suicide.
Former Wizards guard made shocking revelation OGs Podcast by former NBA star Udonis Haslem and mike miller …He said it was very difficult when his mother died of breast cancer in 2019.
“My mother was my best friend,” the 33-year-old said.
“I had a gun put to my head twice, but many of my friends and loved ones at the time didn't know.”
After signing a $170 million contract extension with the Wizards, Wall described dealing with multiple injuries and the death of his mother as his “darkest moments.”
But Ms. Wall chose not to pull the trigger…because she couldn't bear the thought of leaving her two sons behind.
“If I take myself away from this earth, then who can raise my children? I'm going to fail,” Wall said.
“I know I have to be there for them.”
Instead, the five-time NBA All-Star went to see a therapist (which he continues to do) and is now advising other men struggling with mental health to do the same.
“If like you, you've ever felt in an uncomfortable place as a Black person, an African American person, or any race, there's nothing wrong with that, and there's nothing wrong with asking for help. It's okay, there's nothing wrong with that. There’s nothing wrong with that,” Wall said.
“I had to think about it, otherwise I wouldn't be here today.”
Wall was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft and was a key player for the Wizards, Rockets, and Clippers. He averaged 18.7 points and 8.9 assists in 11 seasons.
