NBA YoungBoy accuses Birdman of betraying him in his new song “Tears of War.”
The Cash Money Records co-founder and in recent years collaborator and mentor of the Baton Rouge rapper was apparently at odds with the currently incarcerated star.
On the track, which was premiered by Akademiks, YoungBoy raps: “I knew Stunna didn't love me. I should have listened to Carter.”
He was referring to Lil Wayne's public warning not to trust Birdman on his 2020 collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert on the song “Multiple Flows,” to which Weezy said: “And I told YoungBoy to be careful of old people.”
According to Aku, “Tears of War” was the last song YoungBoy recorded before his recent arrest.
The 24-year-old is currently in custody in connection with a drug prescription fraud case in Utah, where he was previously on house arrest on an unrelated federal firearms case.
While the cause of their feud is unclear, NBA YoungBoy and Birdman were close even before “Tears of War.”

In a FaceTime chat between the pair posted online last year, Stunna went so far as to say YoungBoy could save hip-hop.
“I need you,” Birdman told YB. “This shit is too watered down. What? Dude, this shit is too watered down… We gotta save hip hop. Nephew, we gotta save this shit. I'm serious.”
The disciple responded at the time: “It seems diluted, but I'm going.”
The veteran rap mogul has also spoken highly of his Louisiana native in the past, claiming in September 2021 that he might be the “greatest rapper” in the business.

Birdman compared YoungBoy to Lil Wayne, saying, “Looking at the speed he does music, the value he puts into music, I see a lot of similarities between him and Wayne.”
