While many of the NBA's top trade targets have already moved on, there are still some impact players remaining on the market. Utah Jazz star Lauri Markkanen has been getting a lot of attention lately, as has Zach LaVine's untradeable contract, but there are other players who are less well known but could make a big impact.
One player expected to be moved sometime this summer or next season is Toronto Raptors guard Bruce Brown. A key member of the Denver Nuggets, who won the NBA championship in 2023, Brown was traded to the Indiana Pacers in free agency that summer but ultimately ended up in Toronto. The Raptors have picked up Brown's $23 million team option and are likely to use it in a trade.
In a recent article, Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley proposed a hypothetical trade proposal that would send Brown to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for D'Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood Schifino and a second-round pick in 2025. As mentioned, this is a hypothetical proposal, but it could be one that makes sense for both sides.
The Lakers get a championship-winning, versatile guard, while Toronto gets youngster Hood Schifino and a future pick. It will be interesting to see what the Raptors do with Russell, but they could also sell him in an additional trade.
