We're all waiting to see the Golden State Warriors rise to the top of the NBA again, and while we wait, it looks like the team's summer league squad might achieve just that.
The Warriors continued their dominating summer streak on Friday, defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder, 90-83, to advance to the Summer League Playoffs. The Warriors went a perfect 4-0 in the Las Vegas Summer League after a dominant 3-0 win at the California Classic Summer League. Who says they have to lose games?
Three of the most highly-anticipated players on the team's summer league roster — Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson-Davis and Guy Santos — didn't play Friday, but many others were productive. Slick-shooting center Quinten Post, the team's only 2024 draft pick, came off the bench to record 10 points (three rebounds, one assist and one steal) and make two 3-pointers in just 14 minutes of play.
Pat Spencer, who signed a two-way contract with the Warriors last year, continued his impressive summer by scoring 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting and adding seven assists.
Veteran Kevin Knox II added 14 points and 10 rebounds (a team-best +15) off the bench, while rookie recruit Yuri Collins stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Recently signed two-way contract guard Daekwon Plowden had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a big highlight-reel block.
And that wasn't his only highlight!
The Warriors will face the Miami Heat on Sunday and with a win they will advance to the Las Vegas Summer League finals.
Hey, every trophy is worth celebrating.
