• Summer League: Complete coverage
As the 2024 SLC Summer League kicked off with players competing at altitude in Salt Lake City and the home-town Jazz wrapping up the match with an overtime win, here's a look at some of the individual performances that stood out from Monday's action.
Ricky Council IV, Philadelphia
The 76ers and Thunder were bogged down through the third quarter, but Ricky Council IV came through in the final quarter, scoring 19 of his game-high 29 points on 6-of-9 shooting (5-of-6 3-pointers) to lead Philadelphia to the shutout victory. Council played last season on a two-way contract, but the 76ers converted it to a four-year deal at season's end. With a retooled roster in need of shooting power and depth, the Arkansas native made a strong first impression this summer.
Zach Eddy, Memphis
Frustrated after missing a tipped dunk in the final seconds of regulation, Eddie miraculously redirected an intentionally missed free throw to send the game into overtime. With the basketball to spare, the 7'4″ rookie ultimately finished with 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks in 33 minutes. He made 7-of-12 shots (all in the paint) and proved his size could make an impact from the tipped position.
Keyonte George, Utah
George, a 2023 first-round draft pick, was named to the All-Summer League First Team a year ago in Las Vegas and picked up where he left off after gaining experience in Utah. Though George struggled with his shooting (5-of-21 field goal attempts), he dominated the Grizzlies from the inside, making an incredible 17-of-19 free throws, including the game-winning point that sealed Elam's victory in overtime. His 30 points came in 32 minutes with four rebounds and four assists.
Adam Flagler, Oklahoma City
Flagler, who spent his rookie season on a two-way contract with the Thunder and played mostly in the G League, knew what time it was in Salt Lake City. The Baylor alum, who shot 40.2 percent from three-point range in 30 games (18 starts) with the Oklahoma City Blue, hit the 3-pointer early and often, making 6-of-15 shots to finish with a team-high 18 points, including 14 shots from long range.
