Stephen Curry scored 31 points to help the Golden State Warriors defeat LeBron James' Los Angeles Lakers 128-121.
James scored 40 points for the Lakers, but couldn't stop the Warriors from climbing to ninth place in the Western Conference.
“They talk about me and him all the time,” Curry said of James.
“Tonight was about the whole group. It takes the whole team for us to win and we needed that. We really needed it.”
The game was marred by long replay delays, including one overturned 3-pointer by James, and multiple shot clock failures with about two minutes left.
“I've never seen anything like that in my career. Usually they have a backup clock or something,” said Curry, 36, who returned after missing three games with an ankle injury. Ta.
“That's the worst thing that can happen, especially at this age. You save up everything before the game and start running, but when the engine stops, it's hard to start it again.”
The Warriors are one point ahead of the Lakers, and both teams are in the final two play-in positions in the Western Conference.
The Lakers were hampered by losing Anthony Davis to an eye injury after the first quarter.
“It's a big win for us,” Curry added. “I don't know the last time we beat them here. It's a big deal.”
Elsewhere, Jalen Brunson scored 42 points to help lead the New York Knicks to a 98-91 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 118-112, moving them into first place in the Western Conference with a record of 47-20, tied with the Denver Nuggets.
Jaylen Williams contributed to the Thunder's victory with 23 points, seven rebounds, and six assists.
