Following the conclusion of relevant games through Sunday, April 14, NBC Sports Bay Area will provide an overview of NBA teams in and around the Western Conference play-in tournament box.
These “standings” continue from 6th to 11th until the 6th and 11th place teams are eliminated from the four-team play-in box.
Here's the status of Monday night's series of games.
6th place (finally guaranteed a playoff spot): Pelicans (45-30, 7.5 games out of first place). Monday: Lost to the Suns, 124-111. Next two games: Wednesday vs. Magic (44-31), Friday vs. Spurs (18-57).
7th: Suns (44-31, one game behind the Pelicans). Monday: He won 124-111 against the Pelicans. The next two games are Wednesday vs. the Cavaliers (45-30) and Friday vs. the Timberwolves (51-23).
Eighth: Kings (43-31, 1.5 games behind the Pelicans). Monday: Did not play. Next two games: Tuesday vs. Clippers (47-27), Thursday vs. Knicks (44-30).
9th: Lakers (42-33, 3 games behind the Pelicans). Monday: Did not play. The next two games are Tuesday against the Raptors (23-51) and Wednesday against the Wizards (14-61).
