Nikola Jokic had 35 points and 16 rebounds, and the Denver Nuggets overcame a comeback from the Minnesota Timberwolves to win 115-112 in the NBA.
The Timberwolves erased an 18-point deficit in 12 minutes in the third quarter to take an 84-82 lead.
Denver regained the lead in the fourth, but missed a late chance when Anthony Edwards' attempted 3-pointer hit the rim, forcing overtime.
“We have to keep teams out,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said.
“That's something we really have to improve on.”
Malone said a late tactical change limited Timberwolves guard Edwards' inability to score 30 points in the fourth quarter.
“We threw extra bodies at him,” he said. “One guy trying to guard Anthony Edwards is a challenge for anyone in the NBA. So we started throwing our bodies at him to get the ball out of his hands.”
The win at Target Center in Minneapolis moved NBA champion Denver into second place in the Western Conference behind the Oklahoma City Thunder.
