The story of Hall of Fame NBA player Allen Iverson's life and career will soon be made into a documentary. Shaquille O'Neal and his production company, Jersey Legends, teamed up with Stephen Curry and Unanimous Media to produce a documentary about Iverson that will air on Prime Video.
Iverson said: “I'm ready to tell my story in my own way, authentically and unapologetically. I'm looking forward to seeing a side of me that people haven't seen before.” Told.
Iverson is a former NBA MVP and an 11-time All-Star during his 15-year playing career, primarily with the Philadelphia 76ers. His legendary career began in 1996 when he was drafted No. 1 overall by the 76ers out of Georgetown. Iverson led the league in scoring four times during his career (1999, 2001, 2002, 2005) and led in steals three times (2001-2003). He has been named to his NBA 75th Anniversary Team, solidifying his status as one of the NBA's legends.
Despite being only 6 feet tall, Iverson was not only an incredible talent on the court, but he also helped transform the culture and play of the NBA. An outspoken but controversial player, Iverson is certainly one of the most interesting people to wear an NBA uniform, making him a prime candidate for a documentary.
Iverson previously starred in a 2010 documentary called “No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson.” The documentary follows Iverson's trial for a brawl he was involved in while playing high school basketball in Virginia.
Stephen Curry and Unanimous Media CEO Erick Peyton spoke about the upcoming partnership with Shaquille O'Neal and his production company to produce this documentary.
Curry and Payton are “excited to join forces with Prime Video, Shaquille O'Neal and Jersey Legends to tell the incredible story of Allen Iverson, a revolutionary with profound influence on and off the court.” Told.
Curry and Peyton also revealed their main goals in developing and producing the Iverson documentary.
“This project provides us with the opportunity to pull back the curtain on Iverson's storied career, legacy and influence through meaningful storytelling that appeals to audiences around the world.”
Both O'Neal and Curry have turned their basketball careers into several other projects, including with these production companies. Both O'Neal and Curry are four-time NBA Finals champions and former NBA league MVPs. Curry's company has previously produced films such as “Underrated,” about Curry's rise to the NBA, and “Jump Shot,” about Kenny Sailors.
The release date and details of the documentary will be released in the future.
