Twelve teams are scheduled to play four games each in Week 22. That leaves fantasy managers with a lot of options to sift through the waiver wire. Here are six players to consider adding who can take advantage of a favorable schedule.
Duncan Robinson, Miami Heat (52% available)
Tyler Herro (leg) won't be returning to the Heat any time soon, as manager Erik Spoelstra said Wednesday that a timetable for Herro's return has not yet been determined. Robinson has started each of the past nine games Herro has missed, averaging 34 minutes in those games.
If Robinson gets additional playing time, he could lead the team in 3-point shooting. He is averaging 13.1 points and 2.8 3-pointers per game over the past nine games. He also recorded 3.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. The Heat are scheduled to play four times in Week 22, so if you need 3-point shooting, don't hesitate to add Robinson.
Isaiah Stewart, Detroit Pistons (53% available)
Injuries and suspensions have limited Stewart to just 43 games this season. When he is able to be on the floor, he will continue to fill a starting role. He's not just a starter, logging 31 minutes per game this season.
Over the past eight games, Stewart is averaging 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, 1.1 blocks and 1.8 3-pointers. He averaged 33 minutes during that time with the Pistons, despite playing only with top draft picks. With no sign of his playing time being reduced anytime soon, Stewart is worth adding as the Pistons are scheduled to play four games next week.
Simone Fontequo, Detroit Pistons (58% available)
Fontecchio has bounced back and forth between the starting lineup and second unit since being acquired from the Jazz. No matter what role he played, playing time was not an issue. He has averaged 30 minutes per game since joining the team, and has logged at least 32 minutes in each of the past three games.
Fontecchio played even better than he did with the Jazz, averaging 15 points, 4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.6 3-pointers with his new team. He also excels at shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 87 percent from the charity stripe. The Pistons' busy schedule makes Fontecchio a perfect target for the waiver wire.
Harrison Barnes, Sacramento Kings (66% available)
Barnes hasn't had a fantasy-friendly season. He is averaging just 12.3 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Prior to this season, he had never averaged fewer than 14.5 points per game since the 2015-16 season. Also, he never had a scoring average lower than his 4. Number of rebounds per game.
If there's a silver lining for Barnes, it's that he's averaging 1.9 3-pointers per game, which is on pace to be the second-highest mark of his career. He also shot 48.9 percent from the field and 80.6 percent from the free throw line. Volume alone should make him a worthy fantasy option considering the Kings will play four times in Week 22.
Dalano Banton, Portland Trail Blazers (72% available)
The good news is the Trail Blazers will play four games next week. The bad news is it's hard to rely on them in terms of players. Jerami Grant (hamstring) has missed five of the last seven games. Scoot Henderson has limited playing time in back-to-back sets. Jabari Walker (lower back) also missed five consecutive games.
One player who was given more chances towards the end was Banton. He averaged 24 minutes in 15 games with the Trail Blazers since he was acquired from the Celtics. He is averaging 16.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.3 3-pointers over the past nine games. He's a viable target in deeper formats, considering he's likely solidified his spot in their rotation.
TJ McConnell, Indiana Pacers (80% available)
Losing Benedict Mathurin (shoulder) for the rest of the season is significant. Not only was he an offensive force off the bench for the Pacers, he was also averaging 26 minutes per game. The Pacers have also struggled with other injury issues, including Doug McDermott (calf), who has missed eight straight games.
McConnell doesn't need a lot of playing time to be fantasy relevant. He played just 18 minutes per game this season, averaging 9.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.1 steals and shooting 55 percent from the field. With the Pacers scheduled for the next four games, McConnell could see additional playing time, making him an attractive target for fantasy managers in need of assists.
