The Memphis Grizzlies have an incredibly bright future with a ton of young talent that could become stars, and while Ja Morant is only 24, they also have a young star in 19-year-old GG Jackson.
Grizzlies legend Tony Allen revealed in an interview with The Athletic's Kelly Iko that he's excited about what kind of player GG Jackson can become in the NBA, with Allen even comparing GG to LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony.
“He's flashed some high-potential of a poor man's Kevin Durant, a poor man's Carmelo Anthony, a poor man's LeBron James,” Allen said, “and for a guy that was drafted in the (second round), that's a big compliment to hear.”
The 19-year-old Jackson is averaging 14.6 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists on 43/36/75 shooting. Part of Jackson's high scoring averages can be attributed to the Grizzlies' plethora of injuries this season, and his time to actually play meaningful minutes will be where he shines.
“Once he learns the game, it could be intimidating. The way he played well in his rookie season, there could be a day when he hits the ceiling and earns a big contract,” Allen said.
If healthy, the Memphis Grizzlies will be a special team and one to watch next season.
