Munarbek Seytbek-Ulu of Kyrgyzstan is the country's first Olympic boxer since the 2016 Games, when Erkin Adilbek-Ulu earned a spot in the competition.and The World Olympic Boxing Qualifiers concluded with some fantastic action in Bangkok.
Kang Su-hyang of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea had a good run in this qualifier, getting off to a better start than two-time world champion Najim Qizhaibai of Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan was unstoppable, but the North Korean counter punch was timed perfectly to give Kang the lead after three minutes. Qizhaibai was successful in attacking in the second round and could turn the match around with force today, securing the 31-year-old Kazakh's first Olympic berth.
India's Jaismin Ramboriya dropped back to featherweight (57kg) last week and used the distance to good effect against former French marine Fatoumata Kamara of Mali in the first round. The 22-year-old Indian followed a strict game plan and Jaismin proved to be in top form in this qualifier. The tall Jaismin won a unanimous decision in a battle of southpaw boxers to claim India's next spot, the sixth in boxing.
Ireland and Australia had qualified for all six women's weight classes at the Paris Olympics, and China was scheduled to follow them in the evening session. Featherweight (57kg) boxer Xu Zichun was a tough opponent for Romania's Claudia Nechita in the first round, but she fought well from the distance. The 30-year-old Xu won all three rounds to conclude China's impressive quota series in women's boxing.
Kazakhstan aimed to achieve this milestone in men's boxing after six boxers qualified for the tournament in Bangkok. The seventh member of the national team, 22-year-old former Asian Youth Champion Muhammadsabir Bazarbai-Uul, faced Moldova's Aleksandr Parasiv in a special boxing bout in the men's light welterweight (63.5 kg) class. The Kazakh boxer was patient, searching for the best angle to land a punch, perfecting his men's team for the Olympics.

Vietnam's Ha Thi Linh has recorded her second victory in the women's lightweight (60kg) boxing bout at the World Olympic Qualifiers. After losing to Sweden's Agnes Alexisson in the semi-finals yesterday, the 31-year-old Vietnamese went on to beat another Nordic opponent, Finland's Vilma Viitanen.
Kyrgyzstan's Munarbek Sayetbek-Uul used a different strategy to his previous bouts to attack India's Sachin Siwach in their men's featherweight (57kg) boxing showdown. The historic World Championship bronze medallist was patient and followed a well-thought-out tactic in the second round to take a 20:18 lead on the scorecards in the fourth round. Sachin was unable to recover in the third round, and Munarbek Sayetbek-Uul became Kyrgyzstan's first Olympic boxer since 2016.
Jordan's Hussein Yashayish lost in the semi-finals of the light heavyweight (80kg) division, but showed great concentration in the box-off against Armenia's Rafael Hovhannisyan. The Asian champion dominated the center of the ring, landing at least twice as many punches as his European silver medalist opponent. Yashayish dominated the box-off and qualified for his third Olympic Games after Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
