Three Malingal participants won gold medals at the European Mixed Martial Arts Championships in Belgrade, Serbia, on Saturday.
Kayden Dalton, Khadra Gilhooley and Olivia Babialz each achieved success in the prestigious tournament after a series of difficult contests.
Kayden (-48) and Khadra (-52) both had success at U12/13 level and Olivia (-57) had success at U14/15 age grade.
The MMA fighters competed in multiple matches throughout the day and winning three gold medals was an outstanding achievement.
Mullingar Relentless Martial Arts Club is extremely proud of this achievement.
The participants were part of Team Ireland, which won a total of seven gold medals, five silver medals and 11 bronze medals. They finished in second place after Ukraine in this competition.
Danny and Alan McCormack are coaches at the Mullingar club and both are involved with the Ireland team, with Danny being the head coach. She said the achievements of the Mullingar warriors were phenomenal.
The International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) is overseeing the championship, which runs until April 6 in the Serbian capital.
