Sean O'Malley is hating on Conor McGregor again.
The current UFC bantamweight champion has made no secret of his admiration for “The Notorious” over the years, and as O'Malley has risen to the height of his fame, he's had some online interactions with McGregor – but unfortunately, they haven't always been good.
O'Malley, 29, spoke about his experience with the banned substance Ostarine on his YouTube channel last week. “Sugar” was suspended twice by USADA for six months after testing positive in 2018, but he claimed a tainted supplement was to blame. In speaking about Ostarine, O'Malley said he had been exposed to it in the gym through a training buddy's sweat and claimed to have scientific evidence. McGregor responded by tweeting a smiling face emoji that O'Malley disliked.
“Connor kind of did this little bump and had this laughing face, and yeah, that was kind of annoying,” O'Malley said on his YouTube channel. “I was like, seriously, seriously. This is science. I posted a printed science page. It was science, and it was good. People were like, 'Seriously?'”
“I think Connor deleted the tweet, but I was kind of raging. I was just sitting there and that Monday, Tammy [my cow] Dead. I was in a hotel room in Las Vegas waiting to go to Face Off. I had some free time to spare so I grabbed my Twitter phone and pointed my fucking Twitter finger at Twitter and tweeted it. He's a jealous bitch, that's the reality. He does drugs.”
O'Malley became champion in July 2021 after McGregor defeated Aljamain Sterling by second-round TKO at UFC 292 last August. The former featherweight and lightweight champion was scheduled to return in a highly-anticipated bout against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 last month, but was forced to pull out due to a broken pinky finger.
During his time off, McGregor apparently bulked up for the role. Roadhouse Alongside Jake Gyllenhaal, the McGregor-Chandler bout is scheduled at welterweight, but O'Malley doesn't expect size to be an issue if they were to fight.
“You know what's weird?” O'Malley asked. “When you look at professional athletes, professional fighters at 190 pounds, Conor's probably at 190, right? 185? In the UFC, I look at it and I think I'm realistic. I weigh 155, 160. The weight classes are there for a reason, but I'm not going to beat those guys. I'm going to beat Conor because I believe I could beat him. I'm not just saying that. I think stylistically, I could beat Conor in a fight. It's not an easy fight, but I'm not going to call out anybody that I don't think I can beat in a fight. I think I can beat Conor in a fight. At this point. He's fat, but he's short.”
O'Malley will seek to defend his title for the second time when he faces Merab Dvalishvili in the main event of UFC NOCE at the Las Vegas Sphere on September 14.
