AN/PHNOM PENH POST – Cambodia will host the second Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championships in July this year, making its debut as the host nation after Thailand held the first tournament in August last year.
The announcement was made by Gordon Tan, vice president of the Olympic Council of Asia and president of the Asian Mixed Martial Arts Association (AMMA), during a meeting with Prime Minister Hung Manet in Phnom Penh on April 22.
According to AMMA, the association was established in Singapore to promote and develop mixed martial arts activities across Asia.
It added that it is the only pan-Asian mixed martial arts federation and is recognized by the Olympic Council of Asia.
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is a full-contact, hybrid martial art that incorporates elements of striking, grappling, and groundwork from various fighting styles from around the world.

The Prime Minister encouraged more international sporting events hosted by Cambodia to build on the success of the 32nd SEA Games, which was hosted by the Kingdom for the first time in May 2023.
