The Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight is on the way and a new date has been set.
The two are scheduled to step into the ring on November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the Dallas Cowboys, and the bout will be streamed live on Netflix as originally planned.
Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), which Paul co-founded, made the announcement on Friday.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which oversees combat sports, confirmed the new dates had been requested and approved.
When is the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight scheduled?
MVP co-founder Nakissa Vidarian said the fight was rescheduled to a date “that would allow both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson to be fully prepared, have equal training time and host the event at AT&T Stadium in the middle of the Cowboys' season.”
Nov. 15 is a Friday, and the Cowboys will host the Houston Texans the following Monday. The game was originally scheduled for July 20, a Saturday.
News of the new date ended speculation about the fate of the postponed bout, after Texas officials said Thursday that the fight promoter had not yet requested a new date.
“We had to postpone the fight but we will be back in training shortly,” Tyson said. “A new date has been set, but whenever we fight the result will be the same – Jake will get knocked out.”
Why was the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight postponed?
The bout was postponed until May 31 after the 57-year-old Tyson experienced a recurrence of an ulcer and required medical attention.
Physicians on the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) board of directors praised the decision to postpone the fight until November. “This shows that Mike Tyson has the respect for his digestive health that he deserves,” Lawrence Kosinski, a Chicago-area gastroenterologist and AGA board member, said in an email to USA Today Sports.
The bout between Tyson and the 27-year-old Paul was announced with great fanfare on March 7, but was met with criticism that Tyson was too old to fight and later speculation that the bout was fixed.
Tickets officially went on sale on May 16. MVP said previously purchased tickets will remain valid and those who are unable to attend the rescheduled date can receive a refund at the original point of purchase until July 8.
