As someone who has been a card-carrying and proud member of the media for the past two and a half weeks, it's no secret that people with big platforms make outrageous claims for no other purpose than to get clicks and get people talking. There is nothing more infuriating than seeing. So when he first said it I decided not to blog this but the last thing I want to do is give the greenies what they want so what's going on now? We cannot sit back and watch.
So obviously the internet was completely against it. UW obviously he won't be playing in the NBA playoffs. To make sure I wasn't barking up the wrong tree, I first visited a college basketball coverage blog.
We then asked our resident UConn contacts to clarify this point further.
*Note: Piston is 12-60. So I wonder what a play-in team like the Heat or 76ers would do to them if they deal UConn. So Jack literally kept saying that if he were the oddsmaker, UConn's season long-term win total would be 5.5 on the over/under. And it wasn't just these two who disagreed with Greaney's opinion, the whole world was against it, including NBA players like Chandler Parsons.
Well, both are wrong. UW isn't an NBA team, so they could be 0-82 if they play a full schedule, but they have several players who could log minutes against the Pistons, who are currently 12-60.
…..But Greaney is completely wrong because he and I disagree this morning. He's trying to throw things at the wall and see what sticks and start a fire. But what pisses me off is that when the whole world accused him of his bullshit, he completely backtracked and reversed course. However, he didn't even say he was going to have a conversation or click. His excuse was that he was joking!
joke? 0-82? Buddy, let me give you some advice that the great Kirk Minihane once gave me. Please do not delete the tweet. Don't agree with what commenters say. If you have an opinion and people don't like it, stand by it. Who gives a fuck!
** Plus, I don't think he was joking. It's not like he really thought UConn would make the NBA playoffs, but he's also pretty unreasonable going 0-82 from the playoffs.
