Michael Bisping thinks Michael Chandler will make a grave mistake by underestimating Conor McGregor.
Chandler (23-8 MMA, 2-3 UFC) welcomes McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) in a welterweight bout. The bout will headline UFC 303 on June 29th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas (pay-per-match) (The View, ESPN, ESPN+).
McGregor hasn't fought since sustaining a nasty broken bone in July 2021, and Chandler believes he'll never be the same fighter. Bisping thinks Chandler might be right, but he advises him not to think that way.
“Hey, hey, he just said, 'I don't need to pick a fight with someone with a bigger rifle than me,' and then he went on to say, 'I think I hit harder.' ” Bisping said on his YouTube channel. “So, which one? Don't get drunk on your own ego. Michael Chandler is an entertainer, whether it's in the ring, whether it's in the post-fight interview, whether it's the match itself, this guy is He's a born entertainer.
“This guy should be in WWE or UFC, whichever promotion he chooses. The guy is explosive every time he fights. He's phenomenal. Win or lose, he shows up. . Justin Gaethje vs. Dustin Poirier – two of the best fights the UFC has ever put on. So I can't wait for this fight, but I think he's going to get back to himself and what McGregor is going to do. We must respect the threat that is coming.”
McGregor will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back stoppage losses to Dustin Poirier. He hasn't won a fight since knocking out Donald Cerrone in January 2020. Meanwhile, Chandler will also aim to return to the win column in November 2022 following a submission from Poirier.
