Providence, Rhode Island – The Providence College men's hockey program announced its non-conference schedule on Tuesday, June 25. The Friars are scheduled to play 11 non-conference regular season games, including five against NCHC programs.
Providence plays a road game at Union University on Oct. 5 before opening the regular season in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game in North Dakota on Oct. 12. The Friars last visited Grand Forks in 2014.
Homecoming weekend (Oct. 18-19) will see Arizona State visit Schneider Arena for the first time. The two teams played two games in Tempe, Ariz., last season, with the score at 1-1.
Providence will close out its non-conference home slate with a game against Long Island University (Nov. 23) and two games against Colorado University (Dec. 6-7). The matchup against Long Island University will be Providence's first in program history, while the Friars and Tigers will meet for the first time since 2015.
The Friars will compete in two mid-season tournaments: the Adirondack Winter Invitational in Lake Placid, New York (Nov. 29-30) and the Ledyard Classic in Hanover, New Hampshire (Dec. 28-29). In Lake Placid, the Friars will face St. Lawrence University before playing either Clarkson University or the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Opponents for the Ledyard Classic will be announced at a later date. Other teams competing include the University of Alaska Anchorage, Northeastern University and Dartmouth College.
Non-conference play will conclude with the annual Mayor's Cup at Brown University on Tuesday, January 7th.
