The final game of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals was the most-watched sport on Memorial Day.
Monday's Game 4 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals between the Celtics and Pacers averaged 6.63 million viewers on ESPN and ESPN2, making it the top sports program of the day, up 1% from last year's Game 4 between the Heat and Celtics on TNT, which didn't coincide with the Memorial Day holiday. For more details on Game 4 viewership and the entire series, see this article.
The NHL Western Conference Finals ranked second on the day with Game 3 of the Stars vs. Oilers averaging a combined 1.76 million viewers across TNT (1.69 million) and truTV (65,000). This is a 40% increase over last year's Golden Knights vs. Stars (1.26 million). (Like the NBA, last year's game did not overlap with the Memorial Day holiday.) The first three games of the Stars vs. Oilers series averaged 1.6 million viewers, up 4% from last year's WCF. The series is averaging 4.2 million viewers (+63%) in both the U.S. and Canada, where it airs on CBC, Sportsnet and TVAS.
The NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship game between Maryland and Notre Dame averaged 594,000 viewers, down 22% from last year's 797,000. The broadcast was initially moved up from 1pm ET to noon to avoid rain, but was later postponed to after 2pm. (The 437,000 figure shown in the graph below is for just the 8 minutes before the rain-delayed broadcast began.)
The NCAA baseball tournament selection drew 343,000 viewers on ESPN2.
