Max Holloway named Justin Gaethje's KO as one of his favorite UFC memories to this day.
Last weekend, on Saturday, April 13th, at the historic UFC 300 in Las Vegas, Max Holloway (26-7 MMA) faced Justin Gaethje (25-5 MMA) in a lightweight bout for the BMF title. It was conducted.
In the end, 'Blessed' won by KO at 4:59 of Round 5 (see here), stripping Gaethje of the title and making it his own. This is the former UFC featherweight champion's third consecutive win.
It was during a postgame interview with Sony Sports Network's Chamatkar Sandhu that Holloway reflected on his victory and how it compared to other career highlights.
“This has to be two. This has to be the second (best achievement). Jose Aldo going to Rio to play against the 'King of Rio', that will always be my number one.” This has to be two fights because what I did against Aldo was amazing. ”
While his dominant performance against Gaethje was right up there, Holloway puts his performance against Jose Aldo first and ranks it as his second-best performance.
Holloway and Aldo (31-8 mixed martial arts) first met at UFC 212 in June 2017, where he was “celebrated” by defeating the “King of Rio” by TKO at 4:13 of the third round.
The two met again at UFC 218 in December of the same year, but the result was the same, with Holloway retaining the featherweight belt with a TKO victory.
Jose Aldo was scheduled to retire from the UFC in September 2022, but he announced he would return to the Octagon at UFC 301 in May to face Jonathan Martinez (19-4 MMA) in a bantamweight bout.
So the question is, will there ultimately be a trilogy battle between Holloway and Aldo? is that what you want to see?
