Max Holloway has expressed disappointment at missing out on the main event of UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
UFC 306 takes place on Saturday, September 14 at the Sphere in Paradise, Nevada.
The main event will feature current UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley (18-1 MMA) facing Merab Dvalishvili (17-4 MMA).
O'Malley faced Marlon Vera (23-9 MMA record) at UFC 299 in March of this year and won.
Dvalishvili is coming off a win over Henry Cejudo (16-4 MMA) at UFC 298 in February of this year.
Max Holloway has admitted his disappointment at not being selected to main event UFC 306.
“Blessed” (26-7 MMA) had hoped to challenge current UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria (15-0 MMA), but that fight will likely be postponed to a later date.
BMF champion Holloway said Championship Rounds “X' Say:
“This is how I feel about the Sphere card. This is how I feel. It sucks. I'm hurt. This is what we should have done. Today is Mexican Independence Day. I can't have the Spanish giving Mexicans their independence back in the headline of the Mexican Independence Day card. Please. I tried to tell everyone but everyone knew I was fighting for the Sphere.”
Max Holloway faced Justin Gaethje (25-5 MMA) at the historic UFC 300 in April of this year and won by knockout. With the win, Holloway won the BMF title, but suffered a leg injury during the bout.
Topuria last fought Alexander Volkanovski (26-4 MMA) and won by KO to win the featherweight belt.
Are you looking forward to UFC 306? Are you hoping to see Holloway vs. Topuria or O'Malley vs. Dvalishvili?
