After the Mavs' Game 4 loss, Doncic expressed disappointment with his play and said he has to help teammate Kyrie Irving more.
“I had to help him more,” Doncic told reporters about Irving. “I had to be there because I felt like I was letting him down. I had to help him more. He gave his all, and He was great for us throughout the series.”
Well, Doncic accomplished that and had some accomplishments on Wednesday. Now, Dallas will return home with a chance to win the first round of the series and seal a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round.
Doncic scored 20 more points than literally any other player he played with on Wednesday. Maxi Kleber's 15 points were second most for the Mavs, while Paul George and Ivica Zubac each paced the Clips with 15 points.
Without forward Kawhi Leonard (right knee inflammation), Los Angeles shot just 37.9 percent from the field and 9 of 35 from 3-point range. The Mavs also outscored the Clippers by 29 points in the final three quarters.
