Four more wins.
The Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-103 on the road on Thursday to advance to the 2024 NBA Finals.
Doncic got going right from the get-go, finishing with an incredible 20 points in the first quarter on 8-of-11 shooting to give Dallas a 35-19 lead, before Kyrie Irving had a dominant second quarter to help Dallas extend their lead to 69-40 at halftime.
Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns led the Timberwolves down the stretch with 12 points apiece, but the team had no answer defensively against Dallas' backcourt.
The third quarter started with some optimism for Minnesota thanks to a late comeback, but Dallas lost steam early in the fourth quarter and held on comfortably.
This is probably what some expected, but it's not how Dallas played out. The Mavericks' largest lead was 36 points. Minnesota's largest lead? Two points.
Dallas shot 54.8 percent overall and 44.1 percent from 3-point range, while Minnesota shot 42.7 percent and 31.3 percent, respectively.
Doncic and Irving each scored 36 points to lead Dallas. Doncic made 14 of 22 shots overall and Irving made 14 of 27. P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford also scored in double figures as starters.
Meanwhile, Minnesota was led by Edwards and Towns with 28 points each, but no other players reached double figures.
Dallas, the fifth seed in the West, will face the top-seeded Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals, with Game 1 scheduled for Thursday, June 6 at 8:30 pm ET.
