Luka Doncic was in command of the game on Friday night.
With the Mavericks trailing by two with 9.4 seconds left in the fourth quarter, and the ball at the top of the key and 2023-24 Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert in front of him, Doncic began dancing, dribbling repeatedly at the Minnesota Timberwolves center and draining a step-back 3-pointer over Gobert's outstretched arm with 3.1 seconds left in the quarter. The shot gave Dallas the win and ended Minnesota's hopes of winning.
As he walked down the court after taking the shot, the cold-blooded Doncic lashed out at Timberwolves center Gobert, telling him he couldn't guard him, and then mixed in some more vitriol.
But Doncic didn't stop there. After the game, he told TNT Behind the scenes of the NBA The crew was brought in to discuss the final play, and when coach Shaquille O'Neal asked what was going through Doncic's mind as the big man switched on him, Doncic delivered the perfect response, taunting Gobert in the process.
Doncic had game-highs of 32 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds to help the Mavericks take a 2-0 lead over the Timberwolves in the Western Conference finals.
