Goals from Real Madrid's Hayley Laso and Everton's Claire Wheeler helped Australia beat Asian champions China 2-0 in front of 76,798 fans on Monday in their final home game before the Olympics.
The Matildas finished fourth at the last Tokyo tournament and the 2023 World Cup but Toni Gustavsson's men will be eager to do even better in Paris.
A nearly full squad kicked off the match at Stadium Australia in Sydney after a 1-1 friendly with China in Adelaide last week.
Wheeler struck early in the second half before Laso scored a second goal in the 58th minute to give France the win.
Gustafsson is due to name his 18-man Olympic squad on Tuesday with the only concern being a hamstring injury to Arsenal striker Caitlin Forde, who sat out Monday's match.

In a match marking the retirement of veteran Australian goalkeeper Lydia Williams after 104 caps, the home team dominated the first half but China's defence stood resolute.
The opening goal came three minutes into the second half, when midfielder Wheeler powerfully headed in a free kick from Arsenal's Steph Catley with her first touch since coming on.
Winger Laso received a sharp through ball from Sydney FC's Courtney Vine and used her speed to dribble past onrushing goalkeeper Xu Huang to make it two goals after eight minutes.

China failed to qualify for Paris and have appointed former Matildas coach Ante Milicic as their new manager.
