On Thursday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time since the 2011 season.
They were coming off a season where they missed the playoffs, but they did a great job rebounding and the duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic proved to be a formidable pairing.
After the big win, Mavs co-owner Mark Cuban posted on X, which garnered more than 30,000 likes and over 1.4 million impressions.
From the Dallas Mavericks: “Your Western Conference champions.”
Cuban cited the post,: “How do Mavs fans feel?”
Cuban has been the majority owner of the franchise since 2000, Sold He made most of his bets midway through the regular season.
From Front Office Sports on December 29th: “Mark Cuban is no longer the largest owner of the Dallas Mavericks.
But the 65-year-old billionaire still owns a 27 percent stake and continues to oversee basketball operations and has overseen the growth of the $3.5 billion franchise.”
Since Cuban took over, the Mavs have been one of the best franchises in the NBA.
However, before the season began, they were not seen as real contenders to win the championship.
Irving and Doncic were great, and the team made some smart trades during the regular season to acquire Daniel Gafford and P.J. Washington.
They will next face off against Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics.
The first game of the finals will be played in Boston on June 6th.
The Celtics won both meetings during the regular season.
