This summer is shaping up to be an interesting one for Minnesota. The Wild are at a crossroads after missing the playoffs, but they're starting to see the fruits of their labor in the draft. Marat Khusnutdinov moved on and looks like a sure thing for the NHL, Liam Ogren is starting his North American career and Danila Yurov is likely to be here at some point next season.
Now, with all of this young talent beginning to join the team, it's a young center named Marco Rossi who is at the center of trade rumors.
The Wild are reportedly open to the idea of trading the 22-year-old center in a “hockey trade,” which would simply mean acquiring another young player the Wild prefers over Rossi. It's not clear if a deal would ever get done, but Rossi's name has been linked to several teams recently.
According to The Fourth Period's latest Trade Watch list, the teams reportedly interested in acquiring Rossi are the Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, Utah, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators. That's an intriguing group of teams that definitely need a young centre like Rossi, but the Wild also need one, so we'll see what happens.
