MANCHESTER, UK – Manel Kape spoke to the media on Wednesday ahead of his bout at UFC 304.
Kape (19-6 MMA, 4-2 UFC) will face Mohamed Mokaev (12-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in a flyweight bout on the Co-op Live ESPN+ preliminary card in Manchester, U.K. Kape answered questions from media members ahead of the fight during media day in Manchester.
Kape and Mokaev started the bout on the main card but were moved to an earlier prelim, and while Kape speculated that Mokaev had not earned a spot on the pay-per-view main card, he said he was happy to get the fight over with and go celebrate in Manchester.
But he also believes a bout with the unbeaten Mokaev could lead to a title fight with flyweight champion Alexander Pantoja, who defeated Kape by decision in his UFC debut and return to flyweight after serving as the Rizin bantamweight champion.
“The first fight wasn't a fight,” Kape said at UFC 304 media day on Wednesday. “We were actually a lot more cautious with each other. It wasn't a fight. I won the third round. The second round was competitive. I'm looking forward to it. If I face him next, I think it'll be a similar fight, like when he fought Deiveson Figueiredo. It'll have that kind of pedigree.”
