Magomed Ankalaev has called for a title fight against UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira in Abu Dhabi.
Alex Pereira (10-2 MMA) continues his strong form with a knockout win over Jamahal Hill at UFC 300 this past weekend.
In his first light heavyweight title defense, 'Poitan' secured the victory over 'Sweet Dreams' at 3:14 of round one with a beautiful uppercut followed by some nasty ground and pound.
Magomed Ankalaev (18-1 MMA) has made it clear that his next title shot should be his. The 31-year-old called out Alex Pereira:XTo fight him in Abu Dhabi:
“@AlexPereiraUFC Congratulations, I'm going to stop him in the first round by knockout @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 This guy has no chin. ”
Ankalaev followed up.
“@AlexPereira vs me Abu Dhabi”
Ankalaev last fought in a light heavyweight bout in January of this year, defeating Johnny Walker (21-8 mixed martial arts) by knockout. The Russian's only loss inside the cage came in March 2018, courtesy of Paul Craig (17-7 MMA).
So far, there has been no response from Pereira's camp to this call.
However, after his win at UFC 300, Alex Pereira called him out in the post-fight press conference to face Tom Aspinall (14-3 MMA) at UFC 301 in three weeks.
Tom Aspinall last fought in a heavyweight bout, knocking out Sergei Pavlovich (18-2 MMA) at UFC 295 last November.
UFC CEO Dana White has already opined that it's a bad idea for “Poitan” to fight Aspinall at this point.
