Luka Doncic hit a game-winning 3-pointer with three seconds left to lead the Dallas Mavericks to a 109-108 comeback victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals.
Doncic finished with a triple-double of 32 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds to lead Dallas past an 18-point deficit, giving him four triple-doubles in his past five playoff games.
Minnesota led 108-103 before a corner 3-pointer by Mavs guard Kyrie Irving cut the lead to two with 1 minute and 5 seconds left. The teams traded fumbles after that, but a turnover by Minnesota superstar Anthony Edwards with 13 seconds left gave Dallas the ball back.
Doncic got the ball, made a key switch with Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert guarding him on the perimeter, then the MVP finalist drained a step-back 3-pointer to pull within one.
With the ball in Dallas' court with three seconds left, Minnesota still had a chance, but Naz Reid's 3-pointer was a no-go.
Irving overcame a slow start to score 13 points in the fourth quarter, including four 3-pointers, and finished with 20 points total. Mavs big men Daniel Gafford (16 points, five blocks) and Derek Lively II (14 points, nine rebounds) dominated the paint.
Reed was the Timberwolves' best player on the night, coming off the bench to score a team-high 23 points and make 7 of 9 3-pointers, while Edwards had 21 points and 7 assists but shot just 5 of 17 from the field.
But the story here was Doncic, who has been a staple throughout the playoffs and in this series in particular, recording 33 points, eight assists and six rebounds in Game 1 before recording a 32-point triple-double that gave the Mavericks a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference finals, with Games 3 and 4 set for Dallas.
Up until that point, NBA players, analysts and fans had all been in awe of Doncic's performance, including that calm game-winning goal.
Game 3 will be played on Sunday at 8pm ET.
