The LSU football staff is in the market for Jabari Mack, a four-star recruit from Destrehan, Louisiana, and has its eye on one of The Boot's best wide receivers.
Mack, the No. 1 wide receiver in the state of Louisiana, accepted a scholarship offer from a local program earlier this year, and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton has been keeping an eye on the 2026 star.
Mack will be in Baton Rouge on Friday to participate in Louisiana State University's annual Bayou Splash recruiting event along with some of the nation's top prospects.
As the top-ranked wide receiver in the Bayou State, he has seen top-tier programs take heat, with LSU certainly moving forward in recruiting him.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound player continues to develop and holds offers from Auburn, Florida State, Mississippi State, Nebraska and Penn State, among others.
Now, LSU has entered the race for the No. 1 wide receiver in the Bayou State, with the program looking to continue accumulating the state's top players after an impressive 2024 cycle.
The NCAA recruiting pause was lifted on Thursday, just 24 hours after the top receiver will play his first game in Baton Rouge.
A top-10 receiver in his class, he has become a hot commodity in recruiting.
With LSU boasting the No. 3 overall class, it's clear the 2025 cycle could see a change in the program, but the 2026 cycle could see momentum continue with players like Mack, Jakeem Stewart and Blaine Bradford all on the Tigers' radar.
Coach Brian Kelly has shown he wants to build a wall around the state, and with a talented Class of 2026 on the way, that motivation remains the same.
Mack will be traveling to Baton Rouge with teammate Phillip Wright to take part in the Bayou Splash recruiting event.
Philip Wright: Wide Receiver (2025)
Philip Wright, a three-star wide receiver from Destrehan, Louisiana, is scheduled to visit Brian Kelly and the Louisiana State University Tigers on Friday and take part in the program's annual “Bayou Splash” recruiting event.
Wright, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound speedster, recently committed to the University of Michigan Wolverines, but that didn't stop the Tigers from stepping up their efforts to acquire the coveted wide receiver.
He received scholarship offers from major programs around the country and a stellar junior season made him a popular recruiting prospect.
Although his verbal pledge to the Wolverines has been made public, that won't stop LSU from continuing to pursue the in-state star.
A source confirmed to LSU Tigers On SI that the team is looking to add another wide receiver to its 2025 recruiting class and will be pushing to get Wright in town for the game-day experience.
LSU currently has two wide receivers under contract this cycle: Derek Meadows (five-star) and Tarron Francis (the No. 1 receiver in the state of Louisiana).
Now, they are looking for one or two more wide receivers to supplement their 2025 receiver corps.
Full analysis of Wright's game from 247Sports:
“Big-play receiver who can stretch the field vertically or hit the long ball as a short-game catch-and-run threat. Represents the type of speed-oriented weapon who can take alignments at multiple receiver spots and allow the coaching staff plenty of creativity. Confirmed at the All-American National Combine in January 2024 at 5'10″-5'11″ tall and 175 pounds. Posted promising testing data with a 4.52 40 and 10'1″ broad jump, perhaps with a little more room in his frame than video would have predicted. A certified burner with elite track numbers in multiple sprint categories, including a 10.46 100 and a 21.41 200. That Uses speed to get on top of DBs quickly and take the top of the secondary. Dynamic after-catch run threat with screens and quick game. Able to stack cuts in the open field. Shows promising route snapping that should help enhance his ability to consistently create late. Separates when needed. Adding a little weight and strength should also help to that end. With pads on, he may be able to unlock just a little more of his top track speed. Could provide an early special teams option as both a return threat and a dangerous receiving weapon that can move around the formation. Projects as a high-major prospect with a track record and proven athleticism that could carry him beyond the college game.”
The state's top prospects will drive to Baton Rouge to meet with some of the top recruits not only from Louisiana but from across the nation.
