LONDON — Three of London's top fighters will take to the Octagon at Cotton Eyed Joe's in Knoxville on Friday with hopes of bringing a title back to London.
The event, sponsored by Aries Fight Series, will begin at 6 p.m.
Justin Powell, a 6-foot-6, 10-year Army veteran, will be competing in his first combat sports event in a Muay Thai bout.
But that's not all.
Fourteen-year-old Preston “Snake Eyes” Scott, a former U.S. Team Muay Thai member and the No. 3 ranked boxer in the country, will compete in the 140-pound Aries Muay Thai Championship.
“I've been coaching him since he was 9 years old and he's a really special talent who knows when to end a fight,” said Jerry Loughran, owner of Loughran's Olympic Boxing & Martial Arts. “Preston also trains at Chonburi Muay Thai in Nashville, which produces top-level fighters.”
Samantha Butterly, who is also a Team USA member of the Gamma Organization, will compete in the 135-pound Aries mixed martial arts championship.
“Samantha is a top-level jiu-jitsu practitioner with very high-level mixed martial arts experience,” Laughran said. “I'm excited to watch her drop down to the 135-pound weight class.”
Tickets can be purchased at Loughran's Olympic Boxing, located at 361 Levi Jackson Mill Road, starting today (Thursday) at 5pm. A live stream of the event will also be available at Spectationsports.com.
