Florida State University defensive end Jared Verse was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the 19th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after two monster seasons in Tallahassee. The selection follows FSU head coach Mike Norvell's trend of sending defensive linemen to the NFL. Last season, the Nobles drafted former Seminole standout Jamie Robinson to the Carolina Panthers, and defensive end Jermaine Johnson II was taken in the first round by the New York Jets. His recent success under Coach Norvell has led to increased interest from NFL teams looking to strengthen their rosters and find the next great playmaker.

“I'm really happy that all the hard work I've put in has paid off. This is something that many people think will not be rewarded. Many people are afraid of trying. What if they fail? I'm thinking, “What am I going to do? I'm never going to get paid.'' I thought about what would happen if I failed,'' Vaas told NoleGameday's Emily Peters after FSU Pro Day. “The thing I always thought about was, what if I succeed? What happens if I succeed? So just to see all the hard work pay off. Now I have a chance to be a top draft pick. “I'm putting myself in a good position.'' That makes me happy. ”
